Cefoperazone, combinations/J01D D62
Active ingredients:
cefoperazone (as cefoperazone sodium sterile) - 500 mg or 1 g, and sulbactam (as sulbactam sodium sterile) - 500 mg or 1 g, respectively.
Cefopectam is a combination of sulbactam sodium and cefoperazone sodium. Sulbactam sodium is an irreversible inhibitor of the most important beta-lactamases produced by beta-lactam antibiotic-resistant organisms. Cefoperazone sodium is a third-generation, semi-synthetic cephalosporin antibiotic. Sulbactam prevents the destruction of cephalosporins by resistant organisms. Cefopectam is active against all organisms susceptible to cefoperazone, in particular, gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and anaerobes. In addition, a synergistic effect is observed that is up to 4-fold reduction in minimum inhibitory concentrations for the combination as compared with the effects of each single component.
