Isosorbide mononitrate / C01D A14

Active ingredients:

Isosorbide Mononitrate - 40 mg.

MONONITROSID is an antianginal agent and pharmacologically active metabolite of isosorbide dinitrate (nitrosorbide). Nitro-compounds cause a dose-dependent relaxation of smooth muscle and vasodilation. The onset of therapeutic action of isosorbide dinitrate is more rapid than that of isosorbide mononitrate. Isosorbid monohydrate causes dilatation of the peripheral veins and arteries, increased volume of veins, and a decreased venous return to the heart (reduced preload). Isosorbid monohydrate causes dilatation of the peripheral veins and arteries, increased volume of veins, and a decreased venous return to the heart (reduced preload). It also causes arterial dilatation and decreased vascular resistance (reduced afterload). Isosorbide mononitrate reduces the load on the heart by venous and arterial dilatation and can have a direct vasodilatory effect on the coronary arteries. By reducing end-diastolic pressure and volume, it lowers the pressure inside the ventricle and thus improves the subendocardial blood flow. The net effect of isosorbide mononitrate is a reduced load on the heart and better oxygen supply to the myocardium.
