Nimodipine / C08C A06

Active ingredients:

Nimodipine - 30 mg.

NIMODIPINE is a selective L-type calcium channel blocker of the dihydropyridine group with preferential activity on cerebral vessels. Its pharmacological and therapeutic properties are attributable to the block of the influx of calcium ions through L-type calcium channels in the membrane of vascular smooth muscle cells. It exerts a spasmolytic action on smooth muscles of the vascular system. It prevents and relieves vascular spasms caused by vasoconstrictor action of serotonine, prostaglandins, histamine. Nimodipine increases cerebral perfusion, particularly in poorly perfused areas due to circulatory disorder, in particular after subarachnoid haemorrhage. NIMODIPINE stabilizes the brain neurons. It has no significant effect on blood pressure. Its anti-ischemic properties are due to its dilator action on the coronary vessels.

Indications

NIMODIPINE is used for:

  • Prevention and treatment of ischemic neurological disorders following aneurismal subarachnoid haemorrhage.
