Erythromycin / J01F A01

Active ingredients:

Erythromycin - 100 mg.

ERYTHROMYCIN is a bacteriostatic macrolide antibiotic; however it might be bactericidal in high concentrations. It penetrates the bacterial cell membrane and reversibly binds to the 50s subunits of bacterial ribosomes, thus, it blocks binding of tRNA to the donor site and inhibits protein synthesis. It is active against gram-positive bacteria: Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus viridans, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Corynebacterium minutissimum, Listeria monocytogenes; gram-positive bacteria: Bordetella pertussis, Legionella pneumophila, some strains of Haemophilus influenzae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and Entaemoeba hystolitica, Chlamydia trachomatis, Treponema pallidum.

Indications

ERYTHROMYCIN is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible microorganisms:

  • pneumonia;
  • bronchiectatic disease;
  • otitis and other pyoinflammatory diseases;
  • trachoma;
  • erysipelas;
  • osteomyelitis;
  • whooping cough;
  • scarlet fever;
  • diphtheria and brucellosis;
  • infections caused by pathogens resistant to penicillin, tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, streptomycin.

Dosage and pharmaceutical form:

tablets 100 mg; 20 tablets in blister and package.
